Review on πŸ” Raynox DCR-150 Macro Lens: Top Snap-On Solution for Enhanced Optics by Danielle Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good optics, but lens caps need replacing.

My test initials with this lens match the positive reviews. It has very good clarity and not just about mid-range like the cheaper add-on lenses. The reputation of these lenses is well known and seems well deserved. However, the reason for 3 stars is that lens caps are a problem. They are made of flexible plastic and fit snugly both in the front and back. They fit well but the problem with the front lens cap is that it's very difficult to remove as there's nothing on it that can be hooked and unhooked. I need to have a pocket knife handy to remove it. When the universal mounting ring is on the lens as shown in the product images, the lens rear cap cannot be placed on the back. It seems to me that they could design it so that you can put on the lens rear cap for storage without removing the mounting ring. Now I store it with a rubber band wrapped around it to hold the back cover in place.

Pros
  • Decent performance
