Review on HJC I70 Helmet (X-Small) (SEMI-Flat Black) by Steve Rohde

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Comfortable, right size, great features

I really had a problem at first. The helmet did not come with a chin guard, although the HJC website says one is included. I contacted the seller who responded immediately even though he wasn't home yet. The representative no longer exaggerated so I messaged him again almost two weeks later, then checked my email and found the new chin guard had been delivered. Communication could have been better but the result was very satisfactory. The main visor has very rigid latches that are good for airflow without opening and/or closing. I haven't received the Pinlock lens yet because I won't be needing it for the next five or six months. The internal sun visor works great and is easy to raise and lower after a few rides to get used to it. I wear XL in every helmet I've tried so far (half, full and modular) and this helmet true to size. The cheek pads still apply some pressure after a few hundred miles, but they do wear out. The lining is comfortable and breathable and the closures are very secure. The helmet isn't super quiet, but it's not very loud either. I can record good vocal sound with a lavalier mic in a helmet, even at over 60 km/h. The vents seem to be pretty good and I ride with them fully open. Hottest ride so far was around 80 so not fully tested yet. I bought a ratcheting chin strap to match the helmet; I don't like D rings. All in all it's a very good helmet at a reasonable price and the customer service finally came through.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
