Review on Stainless Bottle Flagon Kettle Outdoor Food Service Equipment & Supplies by Jared Coleman

I like it, but be careful

This is currently the second steel gourd that I own. Had to send back and replace the first one because of the cap. BEWARE OF THE COVER. The bottle cap consists of 3 parts: the steel cap itself, a rubber/silicone seal inside that can be easily removed for washing, and a plastic that gives the cap a spiral thread that allows it to be opened and closed. It's like any ordinary bottle glued to the inside of a steel cap. The problem is that piece of plastic. The first bottle I received was defective and the glue must have been applied incorrectly as the plastic and steel are cleanly separated. In itself it was not so important, you can easily use a bottle with a plastic thread, it just doesn't look so pretty. But to my shock there was the inside of the steel lid. It looked totally dirty and was more of a copper color on the inside, almost rusty. Worst of all there is a small hole in the plastic part which if liquid gets in it can contaminate your drink as it makes its way back into the container part. And while it's not dangerous and it's just a normal darker color due to the plastic thread fusion process, this hole leaves a gap between the surface of the steel cover and the plastic. Any remaining liquid/moisture will result in the formation of mold which will ABSOLUTELY contaminate and spread to the rest of the bottle. And it's impossible to pour out all that liquid or other residue without ruining the lid because that crevice is almost as thin as paper (maybe more). This makes it difficult to recommend this bottle to someone who doesn't typically go the extra mile to ensure their bottles are pristine in every nook and cranny. If you can securely and permanently seal this hole and eliminate the gap to prevent mold, go ahead. If not, look elsewhere
