Review on πŸ–ŒοΈ Winsor & Newton Collection Drawing Ink Set: Black, White, Metallic - A Versatile Must-Have for Artists by Shannon Reynolds

Nice but works VERY poorly, like real ink

(I ordered a set from the William collection for reference) The colors are nice but this ink is NOT permanent. I let them dry for many hours and they were still smeared and bleeding in the ugliest way. The only one that doesn't are black mascaras. In addition, the cinnabar bottle was not sealed properly before shipment, and a large amount of ink was spilled all over the package. Some of the boxes were covered in dried ink and had to be thrown away which is a shame as they were very nice boxes. (As a side note, I decided to see if the ink on the packaging was water activated just for fun, and in fact it was reactivated like crazy!) There's really no point in buying this ink set when cheap watercolor cakes are more permanent and just work better than this. I'm an illustrator and I would never use them in my work unless it's a sketch or concept. If someone told me that regular ink was replaced with calligraphy ink, I would believe that it is not waterproof. and the colors look so beautiful that I'm willing to play with them until they run out. The bottles, on the other hand, are very cute. In the end I decided to just return them. I've also included my original swatch to show how much they bleed with different types of strokes. They were allowed to dry overnight for at least 8 hours. You can see how the colors run and even disintegrate on contact with water (brilliant green and ultramarine were probably the worst here). I didn't even use as much water as I usually use when painting, just spilling them one at a time. All in all they are almost useless to me and do not live up to the description that says they are permanent after drying. I thought about exchanging them and seeing if it was just a faulty set but in the end I just asked for a full refund and sent it in for a refund today. I really hope it was just a faulty set but I would rather just order a Ph Martins 12 Indian Ink Set and see if they make it better.
