Review on LS2 Helmets Valiant II Modular Helmet Motorcycle & Powersports by Don Olsen

GREAT HELMET! suitable for protective equipment

I saw that when I visited a car dealership. I looked at the Scorpion version but it's not available in the States. I saw the Valiant and really liked its features. Some plus points after 2000 miles of wear (about 1.5 months of driving as it is cold weather 15-25 F and snowy weather). 1 chin goes back and it's cool to be streamlined! Real open face feeling 3/4. 2 Good size visor 3 Quick release chin strap 4 With tinted visor! 5 A good backpack and helmet bag and some kind of neck brace. not sure about the neck brace. But other things were a nice addition. This isn't a 30 day backpack, but it's a good backpack for your helmet when you take it on a hike. 6 Seems to have good pockets for Bluetooth speakers, haven't installed my BT yet but seems spacious. Cons 1 The rise of the visor is in the middle of the top to raise it. It's pretty stupid if you ask me. I don't know why it's not on the bottom like all the other helmets. Yes, it will take some time to get used to, but I'm curious how it will scratch as I'm constantly trying to find an edge to raise the visor. 2 It's noisy compared to my modular Scorpion which does NOT rise behind the helmet. It was very noticeable. To be honest, chin down isn't much quieter than chin up. I'm not sure how well BT handles road noise. With headphones, the sound is significantly reduced compared to my Scorpion helmet. 3 The chin button is difficult to operate. I can unlock it, but it seems like it takes a lot of effort to drive. My Scorpion was a simple push of a button and easy to open. I hope this one breaks down over time. Will i buy it again? The time will show. I really like the flip chin. I have a Concours 14 with a power windshield. I thought it was something new (electronic windshield) but I fucking use it. The retractable chin might seem the same to some, but I'm a rider. It's not uncommon for me to drive more than 60,000 km a year. I will say that I will never have anything but a modular helmet ever again. This is my second module. So in terms of comfort, this helmet still feels decent, and the retractable chin is a game changer. The build and construction of the helmet appears to be very good. Nothing felt cheap or flimsy. The helmet is NOT light, but it is NOT heavy either. Whatever it is, it works well for me weight wise.

Pros
  • easy assembly
Cons
  • for seniors
