Review on 💦 GMB 125-6060 Water Pump Replacement | Enhanced OE Product for Optimal Performance by Lokesh Das

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2005 Ford Escape 3.0L V-6 perfect fit and functionality!

GMB is known for making quality parts and I wish I had bought one a year ago when I first replaced the water pump. That's right, less than a year after the Gates water pump was installed, it started spewing water out of the drain hole. The weird thing is that I noticed a noise that I thought was a bearing on the main idler pulley. It turns out that upon removing the leaking Gates water pump, I discovered that the bearing on it had been destroyed. Well, for the record, I'm not a shade tree mech who hastily assembled it and didn't do their due diligence in replacing the pump. Initially. In addition to the pump, I flushed the radiator, cylinder block, radiator, degas bottle and all hoses with fresh water. Any remaining water was then blown out of these components with the aid of compressed air. In addition to the new Gates Stretch Fit belt, a new (Stant) thermostat and housing O-ring were installed. (For the uninitiated these pumps don't use a belt tensioner, it's an elastic fit belt that installs with a zip tie and installs itself by cranking the engine, check out the YouTube video.) The belt is used only once . they cut it off to take it off, so I had to buy a new belt too. The GMB pump comes with a gasket. I used a very light RTV sealing sheet on both sides, mainly just to hold them in place. location during installation. Screwed in (85 in/lbs of torque on the screws), then filled the radiator with a 50/50 mixture of Zerex G0-5 coolant and distilled water (this is the only aftermarket coolant that meets Ford's specifications for this application Fulfills). ) After starting and warming up, you can refill the degas bottle as the cooling system will "burp” the air out of it. When I was happy with the coolant level I pressure tested it to 16psi and there was no loss of pressure after 20 minutes. service and leak-free everywhere. I have been fine for two months, I will report if the situation changes.
