Tired of spending too much on cat food because dogs are sneaking up and helping themselves? To prevent our cats from constantly asking for the food bowls to be refilled and to prevent dogs from eating cat poo, we decided to try this simple closure for the spaces where we keep cat essentials. Nutrition We have their food and trays in the bathroom and laundry where we either had to leave the doors open to access or wait for the cats to constantly stare at us in disgust for not being fast enough or constantly waiting for them to open their door. I couldn't believe how easy and powerful this bar was! Our only problem was getting the end of the hinge to attach to a round doorknob, not a lever handle. With a little effort it was installed. Don't even think about asking us to take it off now. No screws or damage to the door or trim! We had some concerns about a fat cat trying to squeeze through a 4" hole (imagine a small fat/wide cat that weighs about 13lbs) and we didn't know if she could would even try, but a day later she found out. We now spend less time opening doors for cats (our previous dog-restricted solution), and they expect us to have less of a maid. Even our tall, narrow hat quickly got used to it! Our 50 lb dogs were very disappointed to find they no longer have a cat food buffet, access to their food bins and no more poop! The amount of cat litter on the floor has also been greatly reduced (so disgusting) by using poop cleaners. Very durable and even our little granddaughter who discovered the dog food storage containers can't open the door. Easy to snap and unlock with one hand. The perfect solution for us! Would buy again! Would be great for toddlers when the door needs to be left open a bit but you need to restrict their access.
