Really needed to add an extra filter to a waterfall. I rinsed the charcoal very well with a hose for a few minutes before adding it to the pond. As this was the first time I used charcoal in my large pond (I worried about my fish and always rinsed anything I wanted to add to my live pond. I've been using it for several months and seems very good in my pond to work The color has changed a bit, but that's normal. The fish don't seem to be suffering. I've also heard that charcoal helps against some fish diseases and is good to add to the pond. You probably need to know more about this, but I heard it's good and healthy.
