Was looking for a telephoto lens for my Nikon that was longer than the current 70-200mm I have now. I received an email that I would like to sell a non-VR (Vibration Reduction Image Stabilization) version of this lens. I love the VR feature which made me buy this version of the VR lens. You must check compatibility to see if this lens will work with your camera. The VR function turns on and off depending on the setting as there is no external switch on the lens itself. Your camera may require a firmware update. Mine did. I found the update and installation instructions on the Nikon website. It was a very simple process that only took a few minutes. What I bought was not a kit so there was no lens hood or bag to carry the lens in. Also, the filter thread size is 58mm, so I had to buy a circular polarizing filter to protect the lens and because I love the effect the filter has on my photos. Finally on the page of this lens in the "Product Information" section in the "Battery" section. Sections will say "1 Requires Lithium Ion Batteries [sic]". I only noticed when I wrote this review. I didn't put the battery in, the lens works. I couldn't find a link to the battery in the manual. When I looked for other deals on this lens I found a link that said the battery is required on cached sites but not current sites. The battery was listed as the battery used in the camera. I believe this is a typo found on other sites but not this one. If I'm wrong please tell me where it is located in the lens and what the battery is called. Overall, the lens behaves as expected. I am very happy with it. I recommend this to everyone. I rate it 5 stars.
