Review on πŸ”§ Palmgren Belt Bench Finishing Machine: Optimized for Industrial Power & Hand Tools by James Crofton

If you are a knife maker. Buy a glass-ceramic plate for smooth bevels.

The belt grinder is quite good for making knives, but it requires some modifications. Here's how you can use the bottom wheel for concave bevels. 3) it's the price Cons: 1) The platform is not flat, which really affects the flat bevel. I plan to weld a JB ceramic glass plate on top to get smoother bevels. 2) If you use the work table from the belt side, you need to remove it every time to change the belts. You'll also need to re-level your table as there are no detents to tell you where 90 degrees are. 3) If you wish to use belts below 80 grit (60, 36, etc.) you will need to remove the lower portion of the lower wheel guard. I tried using 60 grit tape and it didn't even budge. 4) The screws that hold the disc sander table in place are plastic and have a hard time keeping the table in place when you apply pressure. In general, this is not bad. Meat grinder. I got the white and blue version instead of the all black version shown in the photo, but that's not a problem for me. I would advise this to beginner knife makers, but a glass ceramic top is a must.
