. I bought this dress and another (which I will be returning) for a 1920s style party and I wanted something closer to the Roaring 20s flapper dresses: not tight, beaded, not overly elegant looking. I was nervous about the fringes because most flapper dresses didn't actually have fringes, and again I wanted a more realistic dress than a costume. But personally, the combination of the fringes and the way it goes with the pearls is really beautiful. I ordered black and the fringes are quite silvery/a little noticeable. It's on the borderline between a suit and a dress, but the accessories you use really matter. I ordered a small one. The hip area of the dress is not too tight, but it does not fit people with hips larger than 38 inches (again, the size is small). My biggest complaint is that it forms weird folds at the hips due to the construction. With all the fringes, it's probably not easy for you to tell, but it worries me, especially since I'm conscious of my pear shaped figure. The top fits well although there is a small gap in the armpit (my measurements are 33", 27", 38" - bra size 32C) but it's not too noticeable. I like that it is not tight at the waist / has a low waist which is more in keeping with the era.The skirt hits my knees and the fringes hang down a little so it's 3" shorter for those over 5ft.
