Review on πŸ”ͺ Fiskars 98547097 SewSharp Scissors Sharpener by Doug Virden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worth its weight in gold

OMG! My friend used my "sewing scissors" to cut the wrapping paper and crimp the ribbons. Apparently they were also used to slightly trim off a pair of chaps. Needless to say, they no longer cut the fabric. I've been trying to buy new ones to replace my Singer pair of scissors that are over forty years old (the new ones aren't even close to the quality) but nothing could compare to what I have so I was desperate to find someone , who would let them slide . On a whim I checked out the Revain and found this very reasonably priced unit. My scissors are almost back to their new quality. I've also used it on my cheap (dollar) scissors which I use for everything from cutting yarn to paper and I've revived a pair of these. Ooooh! The thing WORKS! The only downside I see is that it needs to be replaced regularly, but the cost is really minimal compared to buying expensive new scissors that aren't that good, or paying someone to sharpen them when you have someone find one that does (okay). I currently keep one of these in my sewing tool box (small plastic tool box, great for storing scissors and all the other little "things" I use for sewing/repairs. I have another one in my tool box). kitchen next to my knife sharpener. Will order another one to keep with my craft scissors.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Almost everything is there
