This knife block goes very well with my various knives. I have a long bread knife, an offset bread knife, two large chef's knives, and a bunch of other knives that fit nicely in the block. Another reviewer, Katherine Scanlon, pointed out that if the handles are wide, there isn't room for fingers to grip knives between the handles. This is especially true for the large handled steak knife set I have. However, they can be easily removed by placing a finger under the end of the handle, so that wasn't a problem for me. The knife block has a compact design. Five pins make the block strong. I didn't find any flaws or bad joints. This is a well made knife block. The second picture shows the gap when placing steak knives with very large handles in the top slots when the drawer is 3 1/8 inches high. If they didn't fit, I'd still be happy with these two knife blocks. I would keep steak knives elsewhere.
