Review on ⚡️ Amprobe AM-520 HVAC Multimeter: Non-Contact Voltage Detection & Temperature Measurement by Ryan Williams

SOLID HIGH QUALITY METER - For the most part

Overall I am very pleased with the significantly higher build quality of this AM520 HVAC meter compared to $25 meters. I'm just a master DIYer and it's probably the best quality and closest to the professional gauge I currently own and probably more than I need, but I really like the professional feel. At first the capacitance range seemed odd to take readings but I guess I was just unfamiliar with this meter. After spending some time with him I am satisfied with his work as expected. The range switch has a great, premium feel, as does the rest of the meter as a whole. It could have been done with some better conclusions but that's to be expected as long as they're ok but I see a few probe masters in my future as I think this gauge is worthy and worth the cost. Looking inside, one can see the expected higher input protection with large ceramic fuses and other notable protective components that simply cannot be found in cheaper gauges. The board itself also shows good solderability and assembly without sloppy soldering and the like. As some say the NCV function is almost useless, but I've found this to be the case with many other gauges, so I wasn't expecting anything - strangely, some of the cheaper gauges I have have a better NCV function, but I've had a few and it's a heavy hit and miss Also, as others have said, the continuity test is a bit slow but at least audible - on some decent gauges I have - one that cost me $50 - the continuity test is almost inaudible but I'm not willing to send them back. I mention this because there is generally no meter without some kind of internal quirk, but you could do a lot worse than the AM520. I think it's still one of the best gauges in this price range. Minor quibbles aside, I have to say that at this price point, this meter deserves serious attention.
