Review on πŸ”‹ Optimized Battery Bug BB-SBM12 Monitor for Starting Batteries by Brian Nelson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The first was in the trash, the second worked fine and then died.

I really wanted to try this battery monitor because my battery was constantly empty. I was expecting good things from this device based on its 4 star rating but after owning it for about 3 weeks it became unusable. Everything worked fine at first, and after a few days I noticed that several segments on the digital display were not showing. Now, after about 3 weeks, the display has so many skipped segments that it is no longer legible. What a waste of $35! I don't think this device is powerful enough to sit on an under the hood car battery.*Updated 12/11/2010 I returned this device to Argus and they sent me a new one. It was installed a few days ago with a new battery and it's still working. *Update 12/03/2010 Argus block exchange failed! I have to squeeze the device firmly between my fingers for anything to appear on the screen, otherwise the screen goes blank. Obviously these devices have a manufacturing defect with the display. *Let potential buyers not think I'm somehow abusing this thing, it's installed on a brand new Autocraft Gold battery from Advance Auto, using only the hardware that came with a 2008 Ford Explorer. I reject this device. Almost $40 has been spent so far, including returning the first defective unit. Now they cost $55?!?! Attention buyers.
