. When I say "I cheated," I mean I did not install this replacement mirror as directed. See. I was speeding out of the garage and too close to the passenger side of the garage door, and while the mirror was designed to rebound on impact, this mirror clearly wasn't "flipped" too far. for a while and was pretty tough. When the mirror touched the door frame, it shattered before finally swinging, but most of the pieces stayed glued in place. Currently. I'm over 15 and approaching a quarter of a million miles. I simply cleaned the remaining glass with acetone (to remove all waxes and road oils) and simply tapped the new glass directly onto the original with a thick coat of industrial grade adhesive (I saved the included 3M tapes for what - a future project) . Then I glued on the replacement mirror, aligned it and set it up to dry. The next day the mirror looked absolutely perfect, with no signs of repair! So. Although I did the repair "by the jury" I'm quite happy with the results and as someone pointed out I think the replaced mirror actually looks sharper than the heated original. Until the heated original melts the glue this winter (and I seriously doubt it will), I'll be a happy camper! 👍
