I've waited some time before posting a review to properly assess the quality. Well I ended up not using this hat anymore because it has completely stood the test of time. And I forgot to write a review! I bought this item about 6 months ago to use when taking my dogs to the potty after dark but I haven't used it in 2 or 3 months. I bought this item because of the good reviews and the low price. First, I liked the idea of this article, where the LEDs were placed further down the beak of the hat so that no extra light gets into my eyes (which happened to me with a previous headlamp). Also, it seemed to work quite well at first. Although it wasn't as bright as I thought it was, I told myself not to expect too much given the price. However, I noticed that the LEDs gradually began to dim within a month of purchase. I assumed it was the batteries (which I had already replaced and batteries for this hat are expensive) but when I bought and put in more batteries I saw that the LEDs were still as dim as before. Then they kept getting dimmer and dimmer, becoming practically unusable - and by the 2nd or 3rd month only ONE of the LEDs would light up - and sure enough, it was very dim! This was very disappointing (especially after only being able to use it for a few months and still using it very sparingly!) I don't know if the hat I bought was defective or if it's just normal quality. . but if it continues to work as expected, then I would most likely use it anyway and be happy with it - even with such an initial brightness.
