Review on πŸš€ Enhance Gear Shifting with ATP Y-790 Transhift Cable by Brandon Kraemer

Just pay a little more and get the real thing.

This is a very poor quality replacement. It was advertised as a replacement for the 1998 F150 with a 4R70W transmission. I'll start with the good. Overall it was the right length and the end connectors were solid like the original. This concludes this section. Now for the bad. The top wire guide is about an inch shorter than stock. This may not seem like much, but when the cable is properly adjusted, the rod that runs through the wire guide actually reaches the end of the guide. This makes it almost impossible to go from P to R. Switching is from P to N, then you have to switch back to R. Remember that this happens after the bottom connector has been properly adjusted. Now for the bottom connector. If you move it forward to slacken the cable, it will no longer reach the lowest gear (1). If you adjust it to the point where it reaches (1), switching becomes impossible. Now a few little things. The Original Equipment shift cable has a rubber boot over the flange between the lower wire guide and the insulation. Not this one. The original has a plastic clip under the insulation that holds it in place. This is not. The original has a wire clip over the rubber floor seal. This is not. I'm hoping this one is just broken and the others are fine, but I can only verify what was sent to me. I had to return the product.

Pros
  • Includes brackets, bushings etc to match the original
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
