A simple, inexpensive solution, but be prepared for some trial and error.

My truck didn't have a backup camera and I didn't want to spend a lot of money upgrading the system. After reading mostly positive reviews, I decided to try this solution. Here's what I think of the LASTBUS Wireless License Plate Backup Camera... The build quality is excellent. Heavy steel license plate frame and camera body. The wiring seems to be of good quality (not flimsy and cheap) and the connections are tight. the license plate light on the passenger side as I wanted the camera to stay on with the daytime running lights. After installing the license plate frame, I downloaded and installed the "SWD app" (more on that below) on my Samsung Note 4. Tested, turned on the device, turned on the light (engine off), waited for the wi-fi signal on the phone, then opened the app. Bingo - video from camera appeared instantly on my phone, stable connection, decent picture quality. Satisfied with the results, I decided to drive the truck around the block. Start the engine, put it in gear and drive off. Oh, the video frame was lost immediately...then the application crashed. The Wi-Fi connection was unstable (disappeared) every time I left the engine running, whether in transmission or not. So I tried a different connection location - this time I'm connected to my truck's trailer harness chases. Double checked - the image was much more stable and less likely to disappear with the engine running and in gear. Note: Each connection scenario is different depending on the vehicle type. What I noticed during testing: The WiFi signal with the license plate frame was always strong, stable and reliable. that the problem was in the "SWD App" - reviews in the Play Store confirm how bad this application is. So I was looking for an alternative Android app that would work more consistently with licensed camera hardware. I downloaded, installed and tested at least 10 different "wireless backup cameras" until I came across one that worked well with my Note 4. It was a simple and economical solution. The hardware is great - the software isn't great. Be prepared for trial and error during installation.
