Review on AccuSharp 015C: Diamond-Honed Tungsten Carbide Sharpener Multipack - Restore and Hone Blades of Knives, Garden Tools, and Scissors Effortlessly by Jill Weingartner

They actually work

I had them sharpen some very hard to find embroidery scissors. I honestly didn't expect them to work and was even more skeptical when I saw how the scissor sharpener is constructed. The piece of steel used to sharpen scissors was flat and not bent at all. Although I had nothing to lose as several of my embroidery scissors had stopped cutting thread so it was either that or the bin. I followed the instructions exactly, again not expecting anything. I applied about 25 pounds of pressure and pressed the sharpener against the tip of the blade. I did this 4 times, from the root of the blade to the tip. To my surprise, the scissors are now sharp and cut just as well as when they were new. When I first squeezed the handle of the scissors you could feel the rough edge, as if burrs were left on the blade. The 2nd time and subsequent times was much smoother. I noticed metal shavings on my desk after sharpening scissors and when I looked at the carbide tip of the sharpener I knew the shavings must have come from scissors. The magnet collected these small pieces. The scissors I used are very hard to find but not that expensive. I hoped the sharpener would save me from finding them again, and it did. I sharpened all 5 "dead" pairs I had and they all cut like new. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
