Review on ๐Ÿ”ฌ Yosooยฎ 6v DC DIY Dosing Pump Peristaltic Dosing Head for Aquarium & Chemical Lab Water Analysis by Autumn Harris

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It's a great pump for pool chlorination, but longevity is an important issue

I used this pump with a 5 gallon tank full of chlorox (chlorine) to automate my pool to chlorinate. I connected this pump to a power supply and an external electric timer to control the run time. It turns on 3 times a day and runs 3 minutes each time to add chlorine to my pool. Has been working for 3 weeks with no problems. I installed it under my deck in a spot where it can't get wet from the rain as the motor isn't waterproof. Review updated 10 Jul 2016 The pump stopped working due to burnt brushes on the anchor. It's really a shame, because the pump is otherwise well made. The pump is only as good as its weakest component, and the brushes were thin metal, not real carbon brushes. I have since bought another pump (with carbon brushes) and got it working today. You can find a new pump on Revain's website by searching "12V DC DIY Dosing pump Peristaltic dosing Head with Connector For Aquarium Lab Analytic By GHH". I have attached two photos to this review. A photo shows the gears in the pump itself, and I think the pump itself is well made. The black spots in the picture are rust from the bolts holding the plastic pump housing to the engine itself. The bolts holding the plastic pump assembly together are not rusted, nor is the metal housing of the pump motor, only the bolts holding the plastic housing of the pump to the motor are rusted. And they rusted badly in just a few months. . The second photo shows the motor brushes and how thin they are. They are so thin that it is difficult to see them in the picture. The motor is well finished down to the brushes and I don't think the brushes are easy to swap out. And it would be a waste of time to replace the brushes with anything other than carbon brushes that last a while.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
