All cutting mats have a finite lifespan, some sooner rather than later. Before I bought it, I looked at it very carefully and read a lot of good and bad reviews. I use rugs to protect my surfaces and discard them once they wear out or become stained. These mats were very strong, twice the usual thickness. They are stiffer than thin mats, but still flexible. I keep my knives very sharp and thinner rugs don't last long. I think they will hold up much better and the price was very reasonable for the quality. Some comments were left regarding mat slides. This is a mat, if you need rubber feet look for cutting boards. I sometimes put a thin towel under me when I'm afraid of slipping or getting too much juice.
