I bought this knife guard for my 10" Mercer Culinary Millenia bread knife and it's a very strong one Sheath knife, except that it only fits straight handles, not slanted handles. On a knife with a beveled handle (where the blade meets the handle), the guard does not fully cover the blade, leaving about half an inch open. I was nervous about tossing the knife in a drawer and accidentally running my hand over it, so I took a dremel and sanded the edge on one side of the guard so it was beveled. It's not pretty, but it works and the blade is now fully covered. The 10" cut lid still fits a 10" knife so I'm happy with that. Now I will buy another protection for my 8 inch straight handle chef knife.
