The instructions aren't great but there is a Linux system under the hood and it works fine. The SSID is broadcast, which I don't like. I don't remember if there is a setting to disable this (but I don't think there is). You can set up the cameras a bit, but you need to connect to a wireless network and use IP addresses to connect to the cameras. If you change the default password, make sure you make the changes on the base unit, otherwise the camera will not appear. One thing I don't like is that I can't turn on motion detection whenever I want. For example, with Alfred (Android app) you can optionally activate motion detection. As far as I can tell it's either on or off and you have to specify that in a non-intuitive UI (at least I didn't find that part of the UI intuitive) - and it's based on the days of the week within month I haven't seen any other way to enable/disable it. I would recommend buying the hard drive option. You can easily add it yourself, but I was just prepared for it to be ready to use right out of the box. It's too good, and the font on what comes with the device is very difficult to read. Despite my complaints, it just works and once you get used to it, it's not that bad. They reply to emails fairly quickly - that certainly offsets some of my complaints :) Picture quality is good. And it can be set to email you when it detects motion via snapshots. It's nice. Caught these pesky darlings eating my leaves! :)
