Has a metal sleeve that goes over the nipple (mirror fitting) where you connect it to the grease gun. The sleeve provides a snug fit and also protects your hands from a small amount of grease that can build up around the joint. As other people have pointed out, it can be difficult to detach the wand once you're done greasing, but if you pull hard it will come free.
