I have been collecting and hand sharpening knives for almost 50 years. My old 3 carat stone is showing its age so I decided to give it a try. . From what I've seen so far this is about the same finish as my older, smaller and much more expensive stone. Diamonds are the fastest and best way to sharpen hard materials, especially carbide and tungsten drill bits and the like. So sharpening a blade even from s90v steel is not particularly difficult compared to carbide. As far as I know you won't see a Hon that cheap for 3,000 anywhere else. It even came much earlier than stated, but it was worth it. The quality appears to be pretty good, with a smooth diamond finish. It should also last a while since it actually gets light use next to the last stone before sharpening. If you are looking for a lot of 3k sharpening I would suggest trying it out.
