I first bought the whole kit to use as a transfer pump for my boat's fuel tank. After plugging it in, the pump didn't work, so I ordered it as a replacement, thinking I'd just send the original back as defective. I had quality hoses made by a local hydraulic hose company and installed them per the instructions. There is an arrow on the motor showing the direction of flow. After plugging it in, it started sucking air from the fuel supply knob. I swapped the ends of the hoses (opposite the fuel flow arrow) and everything works like clockwork. Perhaps the quality control department needs to figure out some fuel economy basics before shipping these engines, or at least explain it in the fitment guide.
