Recently bought a Honda 06 400ex. It only idles. As soon as you turn it off, it turns itself off. Researched and everyone said clean the carburetor. Well, for the price of rebuilding and cleaning a carburetor, you can just buy a new one. This carb was a straight fit. The negative reviews I've seen about the throttle screws didn't raise any questions in my mind. I used a drill and everything was fine. Fuel as I removed from the old carburetor, carefully removed and fitted a new one with no problems. It took a minute to connect the fuel line to the carburetor, but if you're just patient you won't have any problems. The only thing you have to do is adjust the idle screw, which is not difficult. Start your bike and move left or right depending on whether you need to speed it up or slow it down.
