I hate giving bad reviews but this thing never worked right for me. The piezo ignition in particular never worked from day one (yes I used good butane burn zomatics). I can get it to light with a lighter, but it's a very hot situation where you have to screw in the soldering tips after lighting. This along with the problem that I think it could have been set with too much throttle at the lowest setting (best for lighting) and then completely blown away at the highest setting. I tried taking it apart to move the throttle back a tooth or two, but that didn't happen. To be fair I'm on the top (Rockies) and pretty much everything needs a bit of work. While there I went ahead and pulled the igniter out to see if I could get it to spark better, but it's too weak to get enough spark to ignite the butane. At least the plastic case is good. No matter how hard I picked it, it didn't break. And the metal ring that holds it together at the bottom is very strong. For that reason, and also because I can "tweak" it to make it work, I'm giving it more than one star. By the way. The key to manually lighting is to turn it to the lowest setting first, then squeeze the "forward and up" lever just slightly when the lighter is already lit and before the gas comes out. Then, if it works, you can push the lever all the way to the on position. If you use tips, make sure the screen glows red before you turn it on, and not just a flame at the end. Then screw the tip back on. If you're quick you can start carving the tip with your fingers, but quickly switch to the included 7mm wrench to save your fingertips.
