I've just sold my Yamaha 1700 Road Star and bought a pearl white and black Honda PCX scooter. I have two fantastic full face helmets but thought I only needed one full face helmet for my scooter. I read all the reviews of all sorts of helmets and tried on everything that was available at my local shop. I hate the "mushroom head" look and let's face it, vanity gets the better of us sometimes and I've even used a "brain bucket". It was impossible to get all the helmets I wanted to try on in one place. After reading all the reviews I chose this one as it's a Bell helmet so I know it means quality and because it had great reviews, nice flip up visor and a lot of people said it had a much thinner profile. Here are my findings: I really like the helmet. I bought pearl white and black to match my bike plus the fact that white helmets make riders more visible. The helmet doesn't make me look like a mushroom head, but it's NOT a super thin profile. This is a real helmet that offers the same good protection as a half helmet. Anything less and you'll have to leave with a brain bucket. The quality is fantastic, nothing short of what you would expect from Bell. I live in a hot climate most of the year and will probably never use a neck collar, but as you can see from the photos it closes and opens well and doesn't protrude. It is very comfortable. It's also very soft to the touch but well made and I don't think it frays and peels like many other reviews I've read of other helmets. It also has buttons on the bottom to connect to external parts. The visor is not removable and is definitely of better quality than a simple latch; However, some drivers may find the snap-on version preferable if they want a snap-on windshield that covers the face. (There are many other options for this from other manufacturers.) The liner is not removable, but you can pull it out from inside the helmet and wipe it clean if necessary. The fold-down visor easily slides out or retracts with a protruding lip on the left side. (You can easily see this in the photos.) It clicks up or down and it's really nice. It's big enough to cover everything over my nose but doesn't touch my nose. You can see I have about 3/16 inch between the tip hanging down and the bridge of my nose and I guess I have a pretty short face. The included version is dark tinted. I wear prescription glasses and they cover my glasses slightly. Clear and slightly smoky versions are also available. Someone in a review complained that the pull tab was pink instead of red. It's clearly red, but honestly, if you don't like that color, just take a black magic pen and make it black! Seriously?! The dial is a very nice feature. I loosened it to make it easy to put the helmet on and off. I wear a large and this helmet was true to size. With a dial, it really gets as cozy as you want it to be. While I haven't had the chance to use it on the Autobahn (I really don't want to do it on my scooter) I imagine it would definitely help prevent the helmet from lifting when the wind is blowing. This helmet has no ventilation openings. So if that's an issue for you, you should probably consider another option. I've included lots of photos so you can see what it looks like from every possible angle on someone who isn't a model... Lol ! I hope this helps you make a wise decision.
