I also listened to him and bought this phone about a year and a half ago - due to the fact that it had one of the best rated cameras. I had a Pixel 2 XL. I liked the portraits on the pixel, color reproduction, realistic blur. On note 9 - there is something like a "live focus" portrait mode, but it slows down! Try to take a picture of a child in this mode, that's still a lottery. The pixel was "point and shoot" and got a cool portrait in almost any movement. In general, it takes ok pictures, but "live focus" and trying to make a cool portrait with blur is a fail in this phone.
