Review on πŸ”₯ High-Performance Makita 9403 Belt Sander Cloth for Enhanced Sanding Efficiency by Devin Maselli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High-performance grinder with impeccable performance.

High-quality, high-performance grinder with impeccable performance. 2 day supply with primer and immediate use to sand 200 pressure treated 8ft decking. I used Makita's 80-grit sanding belt and quickly got through many decking boards before accidentally catching on a corner of the plank and tearing the sanding belt. Now I'm a little more careful about how I apply the sander to the wood. One note: when changing the belt, I noticed that there was black residue stuck to both the rollers and the roller, so I made sure to clean the entire grinder. I suspect this is caused by sanding wood dust getting between the sanding belt, rollers and roller. If this continues to build up, it can quickly cause performance issues and damage the sanding belt, the sander, and the piece of wood I'm working on. I decide to remove the sanding belt every few hours of use to clean the sanding rollers and roller as needed. The sanding belt runs perfectly and I never had to adjust the guide screw. The mill is quite heavy so I don't have to put any pressure down, just drive it along the tree. The dust bag is very efficient and there is no cloud of dust when using the Makita 9403 grinder. Due to the sander's aggressiveness towards the wood surface being removed, I have to empty the bag from time to time, which allows the sander and sanding belt to cool down. I've been trying to fit a small vacuum to my grinder's outlet nozzle, but I don't have the right size adapter, so another trip to my hardware store! This grinder gives off a lot of hot air from the opening on the front handle. this is not very noticeable if you are right-handed, but very noticeable if you are left-handed and holding the front handle with your right hand. The hot exhaust is very hot and uncomfortable on the right wrist with prolonged use. I'm thinking of designing some kind of flexible air rerouting to mitigate this small issue since I'm ambidextrous and will switch from left to right hand when needed. Those minor issues aside, the Makita 9403 is the perfect, well-designed tool that I would buy again and again if someone could borrow it and not return it. I would recommend it to others! I would give 4.5 stars if this option was available, but it deserves 5 not 4 stars, that's how happy I am with this tool! Well done Makita!
