Edit. It is extremely difficult to remove from the cleaning tube. I was very afraid that I would break it. But after I took it off I was able to clean it with one of those curved rod brushes. I installed it on a 16/22 vinyl pipe I bought at Lowe's. It looked fine in my tank for about 2 weeks and then turned uncomfortably brown as the algae grew. It does exactly what it says on the tin, just be prepared to take it off and clean it. I suppose there's a reason standard filters come with big, chunky black plastic nozzles and tubes.
