Each Ethernet cable has 8 wires, which is enough for 2 separate networks, but we usually only use one. This device DOUBLES the capacity of a single Ethernet cable using the unused 4 wires and a second network connection. You can now have 2 router ports in a remote location using existing Ethernet cables. Note that non-standard or built-in home Ethernet cabling often does not conform to cabling standards such as pre-made cables.
