Unreliable: Barrel and Hand Pumps

I rated the suction 5 stars but gave it 1 star overall. I bought this in December 2017 to transfer diesel fuel from 5 gallon containers onto my tractor. It pumps diesel fuel quickly and leaves very little diesel fuel at the bottom of the tank. Here the praise ends. When I read reviews before buying, many people complained that the switch broke shortly after first use. Thought I'd risk it since I only use it 5 or 6 times a year. Unfortunately the reviews were correct. Switch broke after several uses. So I bought a higher quality new switch from the hardware store. Unfortunately the new switch didn't make contact with the battery so I soldered a wire to the switch and was able to fix the problem. After a few more uses, the pump stopped working again. I found that the threads in the battery compartment that screws into the wand were loose and not held tight enough to make contact with the battery. I tried wrapping the thread with tape, it didn't help. So now I have to hold the battery box and move it back and forth until it makes contact to pump the diesel into the tractor. The pump and the rest of the device are fine, but the electrical part is not properly designed. As I only use it a couple of times a year I continue to use it but am wondering how long I can hold the battery case together for it to work. If you plan to use it regularly I would advise you to look for another brand.
