Review on πŸ”Œ Hardwire Power Cord with RJ11 Direct Wire for Escort Max Radar Detectors (3005001M) by Andres Black

Cost isn't the best for radar detectors

Overall it's a good idea but it's not very well made and very expensive for what it is. The wires from the RJ-11 jack are wrapped in cloth insulation for the first foot or two, then 10-15 feet of ribbon cable terminating in a fuse connector with a pair of red/black wires for power. Seriously, $2 parts if that. Cloth insulation is not caught by the strain relief in RJ-11. I even repressed it; There just isn't enough material to make a connection. This means that with some fairly thin wires there is no strain relief. Not durable, very expensive for what it is. If you're the DIY type of guy who buys and installs this, you're probably better off going all the way and building your own cable from scratch - I'm pretty sure you can still beat the price. I'll do that next time and unfortunately I don't think it will last long. I installed this from a suction cup under the rearview mirror to the electronics in a 2011 RAV4 overhead console. Very short term. There is no need to run to the fuse box when the overhead console has power on. It works, it just seems unreliable, and when you do things like this you always want it to last.
