Medium Strength Knife

- This is not an elite knife, but your friends will think it is. Steel, corrosion resistance, easy to sharpen, comfortable, well balanced, easy to cut without hurting yourself. I especially like the wooden handle. The current trend in knives is the use of ABS in the handle, and while some scoff at this, I have no problem with that. ABS is low maintenance, you don't have to worry about it warping like wood. Also, ABS can look like wood, you can have a pearlescent finish, you can do so many cool things with it. But with this knife I think the real wood lifts it up a bit. There are only 2 rivets on it - the middle one is just decoration. What makes it a mid-range rather than high-end knife is the rather so-so stainless steel. Second hand. They make it sound fancy, but it's really just a fancy treatment of the lower end of stainless steel. But for me personally this is not a minus. They chose a metal that is corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen, but not very resistant to edging. If you are a chef and use this daily it will drive you crazy. If like me you take out your cleaver about once a week, that's perfect - it has the features I need and I only need to re-sharpen my other knives once or twice a year.
