Product measures 17.5" x 23" in actual size (carefully measured flat). NOT 18" x 24". The smaller actual size affects the overall functionality of the rug. Also, there is about 2 inches (not measured) on the open side that has no backing underneath, so any debris that falls into that area will land straight on the ground. So the actual functional size of the carpet is only 17.5 inches. x 21". Also, the exposed holes are quite large and hard, so I'm not sure cats would be comfortable walking in them. As I lay on the kitchen floor trying to lay it flat (this one comes folded into four ) and doesn't quite spread out after a few hours), my older cat walked over it and got a paw (claws) on it and couldn't let go of the paw without my help.
