Review on Tripp Lite Hi Speed Ultra Mini U222004R by Raul Choudhury

I'm leaving my original review intact, however this hub is not working properly. I took it to the USB visor and watched the packets. It doesn't work. On most computers, this doesn't matter. You won't find this on anything with a strict USB implementation. This explains the behavior of the G4 with or without the power adapter connected. On a desktop computer the power issue never occurs so it seems to work, but on many laptops it doesn't work even with the power plugged in. .==== I got this hub to give me 4 USB 2.0 ports on my Apple Powerbook G4. My iPod Shuffle required power and was connected to a USB1.1 port instead of a 2.0 port. This is advertised as a Powered Hub and I did plug it in, but apparently it doesn't advertise itself as such to the computer. My flash drive didn't work through a hub - it worked direct - powered or unpowered. I kept getting low performance warnings and the drive wasn't showing up. Shuffle just didn't work, but I wasn't expecting it at the time. I know the USB 2.0 port on this laptop is a bit strict in its implementation, but the hub should at least have the flash drive powered (it's LED lit) and let the computer recognize it. I sent it back and received a small Belkin powered 4 port hub called the "Clip Hub". Plugged in and connected two flash drives and my iPod shuffle to the same laptop USB port - no problems and fast.
