The size is usually right, but if your boy is exactly a size 16 he may be uncomfortably tight. So I was planning to buy a size 16 with a little more. No matter what the label on the pants says, and no matter what the description says, they have no stretch or stretch at all. Also, the material is thin and feels cheaply sewn together. If I knew all that, I would buy a completely different pair of pants. DO NOT BUY.
