Review on Effortless Elkhart 28910 3 Way Pass Crimp: Simplify Your Crimping Process! by Brandon Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This valve is for PEX pipe ONLY and requires a crimp!

High quality PEX/crimp only valve manufactured by THC under the Ecopoly brand, part number 28910. Can be used with PEX as well as other tubing materials and requires no crimping or special tools. If you go to Flair-it.com you will find information about Ecopoly, Flair-it and other THC brands. Elkhart Supply listed under Contact, possibly a distributor? The flow chart of this valve can be confusing so I have included a photo to show the water flow for the two valve positions. The valve handle rotates 90 degrees. The valve I received looks slightly different than the Revain photo (see my attached photos). The valve handle has a different shape to match the white Flair-it fittings. Both this Ecopoly valve and the Flair-it valve I replaced have the THC logo stamped on the handle. My Flair-it valve started leaking because I caused damage repairing some of my RV's plumbing, not because of a valve failure. I replaced it with this one because it was significantly cheaper and I have a PEX crimping tool and a supply of stainless steel ferrules. This Ecopoly valve is designed for use ONLY with 1/2" PEX crimped using any of several standard PEX pipe crimping methods. The "studs" are NOT spikes, they are standard PEX rings That must be used with a ferrule and crimping tool for a waterproof PEX pipe slides over fittings with little to no resistance, so if you try to use regular soft tubing and 1/2" ID clamps they will get very loose and leaks are almost guaranteed. Flair-it 16910 becomes the best choice when your application requires the use of soft tubing and you don't have a PEX crimping tool. It fits, takes a lot of force to put on the flair-it cutter so it works better with softer tubing. Flair-it 16910 has exactly the same specifications same valve ki and same flow pattern as Ecopoly 28910. No leaks after installing this Ecopoly valve with PEX pipe and suitable ferrules. The valve action was initially a bit stiffer than the flair-it valve but works as expected and I am happy with this purchase and expect it to last a long time.
