Transfers electricity to the power nozzle. The problem is that there is a vacuum leak where the hose enters the pistol grip. Not a big leak, but still a leak. Obviously, all suction between the end of the hose and the canister must occur at the interface between the pistol grip and the hose nozzle, and any leaks up to that point will reduce the overall suction of the machine by the amount of the leak, reducing the overall "power" the machine. Poor production quality control. I wouldn't buy this again.
