Definitely thicker than expected! These are very basic shorts to be honest and if that matters to you the bottom of the shorts are actually very narrow. Seems REALLY narrow. It's not that the photos appear to have a perfect circle. These shorts actually feel tight and cuffed. It may matter to you. The design and shorts are very simple, almost like men's cheerleading shorts. Or something of an acrobatic training uniform. Maybe they really are? Who knows. As a result, you can definitely move around in them a lot and not have to worry about buoyancy. In addition, the material is very soft and elastic. Has yours shrunk? This stuff seems to be. Overall nice! But the size is not the same. Too small.
