New Year's gift opened and looked beautiful under the plastic wrap. Added door handle on one side. I started applying oil to the board and noticed a slight roughness. There was a dark stain on the grain of the wood, but it didn't completely go away when that side was planed. Turned the board over and started applying oil. I felt that this side is not smooth either. He had a cut all over the board from a planer. This board was to be rejected after a factory test and was never shipped new. Since I ended up drilling and oiling the whole board, I figured I'd just have to salvage the less-than-perfect board and get some deep cuts from cutter knives for years to come.
