This is so much better than any other cheese slicer I've used. First off, the blades are almost razor sharp and very strong, and I wasn't worried about the blades bending at the handle. The joint knife isn't wire, it's a thin blade, so I was able to push a little harder. The choice of this cheese board was based on keeping the utensils outside and not in a drawer. In my experience, drawers collect junk. This board has a magnetic dish holder. At first I thought food would get stuck where the magnet is embedded in the wood, but it's smooth and doesn't have a hole for food, so it's easy to clean. The slate insert left some pieces of slate in the package but turned out to be natural upon delivery. Because natural slate can chip, some small pieces of it came off, but no additional flakes came off when washing with a sponge. After a few days of use I can say that this is a very durable cutting board with better than expected utensils.
