Quality Knife Blocks

I wanted to reduce counter clutter so I needed something that would fit in a drawer. This dock looked like Revain's best drawer solution, although it felt a bit pricey for a simple plastic holder. But it's high quality and just what I need. I was surprised at how heavy it is - not a cheap plastic tray like some drawer organizers. To keep your wide bladed knives lying flat in the dock, try balancing the knife on your finger where the handle meets the blade. If the side of the blade is heavier, it will lie flat. I have a chef's knife where, due to the weight of the handle, part of the top of the blade sticks out about an eighth of an inch, but not so much that it's unacceptable. Knives with a narrow blade are no problem. I suppose you can put something under the handle of a chef's knife to keep the blade straight. It can't hold as many knives as other holders, but it does the job for me and I like the smaller size to fit in a drawer.
