I like that it cuts 2 inch steaks like butter and allows you to cut through raw carrots or other veggies in one breath compared to a Walmart chef's knife! The hook towards the front of the knife is a great rest for the index finger to keep the knife under control when pressure is required on those stubborn raw vegetables! I can only imagine that the rounded cut out on the blades towards the handle would be superb when it comes to cutting! I love the detailing on the sheath and the detailing on the body of the knife. It's well balanced with a decent weight for its size, as well as a full shaft so it can withstand some abuse. I will definitely go if it comes to cooking from the start! I definitely recommend for the average cook or even a basic level home cook!
