Really good quality product. All nozzles work fine. The retractable metal pole helps with storage as many systems have two poles that need to be connected together. Another plus is that it's metal and not plastic. The switch is a really nice feature, as with most hoses, the vacuum turns on when you plug the hose into an outlet. The big problem is that when removing the hose, the suction is very strong when the vacuum is on and pulling the hose out of the outlet can be difficult. When the vacuum cleaner is turned off with the switch, it is easier to unplug the hose from the outlet. A system with attachments that use air from a vacuum to spin a carpet or furniture beater usually doesn't have enough power, so I would recommend that if you need a whisk you need a power head that uses 120v AC to operate the engine in the head. You will need a hose with 120V AC in the hose and a 120V AC outlet near the outlet to power the nozzle. These systems are a lot more expensive and in all the years I've had a central vacuum system I don't think they're worth the extra cost. Central vacuum cleaners are switched on/off via two metal contacts in the sockets which, when connected together (short-circuited), switch on the remote vacuum cleaner. Most vacuum hoses have a solid ring that touches these pins in an internal socket. On this device, the ring has a gap at the top and bottom so that it doesn't bridge the two pins in the socket when it's plugged into the socket. Switch in "on" position. short-circuits the metal ring and the vacuum is switched on. Not all outlets have these contacts in the same place. Some have them close together at the top or bottom of the base, and others have them 180 degrees apart. To make sure this feature works you need to look at the outlet and determine where these pins are and make sure the metal ring gap is between the pins when you insert the hose. The contacts are typically small, gold-colored bumps within a circular ring. Normally if you connect the hose so that the location is 12 o'clock everything works as expected. Otherwise, the vacuum cleaner will turn on no matter what position the switch is in.
