As an old man, the weight of the tool is very important to me. The Makita DA4000LR weighed 8.1 pounds and its closest competitor was the Dewalt DW120k, which weighed 9.75 pounds. Those 2 pounds are VERY noticeable to me! When the Makita arrived I was really surprised by the really great quality and lower decibel level of the unit compared to other 1/2 inch drills like the Dewalt and Milwaukee. weak on the outside but weak on the inside and arrived with a crack on the inside As there is no option to order the case separately Revain was kind enough to make adjustments as the drill is even better than I had hoped for!
