Let the buyer be alert! - Fish and aquatic life

As a microbiologist, I thought these MarinePure Ceramic Biospheres, with their high surface area, would be great for bacterial colonization. But my enthusiasm quickly turned to skepticism when I noticed that right out of the box they were covered in ceramic chips. I rinsed them thoroughly in the sink and placed them in a large bucket of aquarium water. Soaked for a week. As I drained the water to put them in my tank, I noticed more sand at the bottom of the bucket. I did this 2 more times for a total of 3 soaks. Each time there was sand at the bottom of the bucket. The bottom line is that these ceramic biospheres quickly disintegrate into abrasive ceramic sand. Since they will be after my mechanical filter, this sand can be dumped downstream into my wet/dry filter which contains the PLASTIC bioballs, pump chamber and pump, outlets and finally the reservoir. my pump. And small corridors that like to suck up everything in the form of filter feed are more likely to be traumatized by abrasive sand. And abrasive sand will scratch my acrylic aquarium if any gets on the pad I use to remove algae from the tank's inner walls. Abrasive sand in your aquarium is not good. Bioballoons made of plastic do not have a surface, but they do not clog and certainly do not break. This product is a great idea, but it needs to be recycled and chemically stabilized so it doesn't break down in your filter and spread abrasive grit through your system. I feel like I averted disaster by extensively reviewing this product. before using it in my aquarium. It will be returned.
